Fundraiser for Roar Expedia

Roar Expedia was having a very nice racing career when she hurt her left hock and toes. She is having a very difficult time walking and is in terrible pain — but you wouldn't know it. This darling girl, in typical greyhound fashion, hardly lets her discomfort show if it were not for the noticeable limp when she walks.

Roar Expedia's racing owners were about to enter her into their breeding program. But with the help of our kind friend, Joan Harris at GPA Orlando, VAGA was able to bring Roar Expedia up to Virginia to get the help she so badly needs. This honorable decision saved her living in pain for the rest of her life. You can see when viewing the movie below that it is difficult for Roar Expedia to walk. You can just imagine how painful it would have been for her to walk with the extra weight of pregnancy!

UPDATE 1-23-08 Roar Expedia's surgery went well. The doctor found a mess inside her leg but he was able to remove the old calcified bone and repaired it with a plate and screws. Roar Expedia will be in a splint for about two months as the area heals.

UPDATE 2-25-08 Roar Expedia had another Vet appointment today. Things went GREAT. The surgeon was VERY pleased at how well her leg is healing. She is now in a smaller splint and he wants her to walk more on it. She will go back to see Dr. Bradley in three weeks. She will be x-rayed again at this time.

UPDATE 3-5-08 Roar Expedia is getting ready to go to her forever home with the Huxtable family. They will send updates on her recovery.

VAGA sends a huge thank you to everyone who has donated through various ways to help us to cover Roar Expedia's medical expenses. The surgery was very costly and we can't begin to tell you how much we appreciate your support. If you would like to help this gorgeous girl to have a pain-free retirement, please considering sending in a tax free donation to help with the rising medical bills. Checks may be sent to the address at the bottom of the page or we offer the following PayPal link for your convenience.

You do not need to have an account to use PayPal.

We will be fundraising to cover the costs though direct donations, eBay auctions, Meet and Greets, etc. Details on these and Expedia's progress will be posted as they become available so please check back often. You can follow the fundraising tally by viewing the Donation Tracker on this page, and perhaps even see your name listed!
